Pennsylvania Ballet Presents Building On Balanchine At The Merriam

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Pennsylvania Ballet Presents Building on Balanchine at the Merriam Theater from April 14th through the 17th.

Roy Kaiser, Artistic Director of The Pennsylvania Ballet, describes the performance, "The program is actually a repertoire program made up of three different pieces, two of them by legendary George Balanchine."

The show begins with Balanchine's Agon, featuring the music of Igor Stravinsky and ends with Balanchine's "Who Cares?" with the score of George Gershwin.

In between is a world premiere from Choreographer Benjamin Millepied of Black Swan Fame. "Benjamin is using the music of David Lang and he's just creating an incredibly dynamic and interesting ballet. He's using a lot of video and video projections," Kaiser adds.
