PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The annual Walk and Run Against Hunger kicks off April 9th in Philadelphia and organizers say the need is greater than ever.
Carey Morgan, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, said funds from the April 9th Walk and Run Against Hunger are vitally important, “Last year, we saw about 411,000 people receive food from food pantries.”READ MORE: Shooting In Southwest Philadelphia Leaves 4 Men Injured, Police Say
Like the food program at the Triumphant Faith International Worship Center in Olney, run by Portia and Thomascina Bryd. They feed about 100 people every third Saturday. Portia Byrd said, “We try to educate them too.
