Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra Gets A 'Sound of Philadelphia' Gig

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The legendary Philadelphia songwriting duo of Gamble and Huff are collaborating with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia on a new album that will be released next year.

Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff are going classical, with a collection of classic covers for several of their award-winning songs.

Gamble says he's anxious to see it work.

"I think it will bring people together that ordinarily wouldn't be together," he told KYW Newsradio today.

The collaboration news came with the announcement that the songwriting duo will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at a gala celebration on May 21st.

"Most of our music had classical overtones anyway," says Leon Huff.  "Like, 'When Will I See You Again,' by the Three Degrees."

The album is due out next year as Gamble and Huff celebrate their 50-year collaboration.
