Asian Countries Come Together In Time Of Need

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A group of Japanese-Americans prayed at a local church for loved ones impacted by the disasters in their home country.

A small group of Christians stood side-by-side at the Japanese Christian Church of Philadelphia on Drexel Road. They sang and prayed in Japanese for family members devastated by multiple disasters in Japan.

One church member, Medori Taylor, grew up in one of the areas devasted by the tsunami.

"I have lots of friends and classmates. I am worried about them very much," he said.

"We decided to have a special prayer time in the service. And we also talked about our friends and family in Japan," said the church pastor, Tashiro Tamuro.

Tamuro says the disaster is bringing many Asian countries together.

"China, Russia, Korea…usually we kind of argue. We argue about the islands. But through this disaster, those countries are kind of helping our people in Japan."
