Patrol Car Struck By Speeding Vehicles In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia police officer was admitted to Hahnemann University Hospital after his parked patrol car was struck early Sunday morning.

Authorities say the 6th District officer was sitting in his car in a parking lot near Ridge Avenue and Wood Street when two vehicles traveling at high speed lost control and hit the officer's vehicle.

According to authorities, a gray Malibu occupied by three Hispanic males was chasing a blue Acura into the lot when the vehicles struck the patrol car on both ends.

The three suspects in the Malibu fled the scene, but police were able to question the suspects in the Acura.

The officer suffered a leg injury and facial bruises. He is listed in stable condition.
