Local Nursery Showcases Their Trees In The Roof Garden At The Flower Show

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – "Delectable Paris" is one of the largest showcase gardens at the 2011 Philadelphia International Flower Show, which opened Sunday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Jack Blandy, president of Stoney Bank Nurseries in Glen Mills, sprays water on trees inside a heated greenhouse, tricking the trees into thinking that spring is here, to get them ready for the Flower Show.

The trees will be part of the central display of the show, as well as a rooftop garden filled with fruits, vegetables and herbs for a Parisian chef's kitchen garden. "We have some hanging wall gardens that will be on the side of our building; we have solar panels which will be on top of the arbor," added Blandy.

The Delectable Paris display is part of Summertime in Paris, the main theme of the 2011 Philadelphia International Flower Show, which will be at the Convention Center through March 13th.
