Philadelphia Food Tour Operator Picks Up Flower Show's Paris Theme

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In honor of the upcoming Philadelphia Flower Show, a specialty tour operator in the city is hosting a special series of food tastings with a French twist, to complement the flower show's theme of "Springtime in Paris" (see related story).

"That's what we try to do, every single year -- whatever the theme is for the flower show, we try to steer the foods that we're tasting and the flowers that are used to really complement it.  So this year we have a lot of things that are French: Boucheron cheese, Mimolette, lavender," said Eric Matzke of City Food Tours.

(Hadas Kuznits:)  "So you can eat certain flowers?"

(Matzke:)  "Yes, but after going on our tour you can't go picking through things at the Flower Show and starting eating those, okay?"

He says the flower-themed tours are at 3pm, from March 7th through 12th.

"And it's really nice for people who are just coming into the city for that day to make it a really big event," Matzke told KYW Newsradio today.  "It really helps break it up a little bit."

And Matzke says if you're interested in the flower show, this particular food tour should be a lot of fun.

You can register for the tour or get more information on their web site, cityfoodtours.com.
