Abington Police Trying To Reunite Victims With Stolen Loot

ABINGTON, Pa. (CBS) - Police in Abington, Montgomery County, are hoping to reunite some stolen property with the people who were ripped off.  The loot was recovered after a string of home break-ins throughout the area last year.

Police arrested two men last October and charged them with a series of burglaries in Abington, Cheltenham, Philadelphia, and other locations throughout the region.

In connection with their investigation, they executed a search warrant at a Rising Sun Avenue store last week and seized thousands of items, according to Abington deputy police chief John Livingood.

"Most of it consists of jewelry, coins, things of that nature," Livingood told KYW Newsradio. "Most of the jewelry that was recovered is costume-type of jewelry, and we believe that the good jewelry has already been relocated to other locations."

Those recovered items are now on the Abington police website.  They want crime victims to contact them or their local police department to get a password and user name that will allow them to look at the stolen property.

Livingood says their goal is to somehow, some way, return these items to their rightful owners.
