Reducing Kids' Stress

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Sadly it is becoming a topic that is being addressed as young as grade school -- too much stress and pressure on our children. Think about it, as parents many of us are trying to do the right things. We are involved in sports, school and choosing playdates for the young ones.

So why the stress?

Something is missing -- unscheduled time, free time, down time whatever you want to call it. Parents are always there and some are trying to produce the best swimmer, soccer player, or pianist. There are tests to get in pre-school and it continues until there are tests to get in the best colleges.

If you haven't noticed there is usually a fee attached for services that were free just two decades ago.
Certainly you want your children to learn how to work hard and achieve potential but from a health standpoint welcome failure as jubilantly as you welcome success. In the end we need young adults who are happy and well-adjusted.
