PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you’ve ever wanted to run away and join the circus, you don’t have to go far.
The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts in Germantown is offering introductory courses for adults.
Sam plans to keep his day job but spending the afternoon in circus class satisfied a certain yearning. “I go to Cirque du Soleil and say ‘I want to try that’ so for me this is fun.”
Sam proved to be an adept student – getting up and down a vertical rope in no time.
His classmates, Nadine and Josephine found it a bit more of a challenge, “we just tried it and it’s harder than it looks.”
Dani Allen, the school’s events coordinator, says the difficulty is part of the attraction.
Many people sign up as a novel way to stay in shape. In fact, she says the school is enjoying a boom in enrollment, “We have students. We have doctors, lawyers, restaurant employees. It’s just for everyone.”
