Expect Traffic Delays On I-476 In Montgomery County This Week

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Traveling northbound on I-476 in Montgomery County will be a bit slower this weekend due to a change in construction patterns.

You'll need some extra patience traveling northbound on I-476 beginning at 9 p.m., says PennDot spokesman Gene Blaum. There will be lane closures and delays as crews prepare to shift the lanes of traffic for roadwork.

"Come Sunday morning, we're going to take the two northbound lanes on the northbound side and shift them to the left from south of the Schuylkill expressway interchange to the bridge over the Schuylkill River on 476."

And all next week, motorists will encounter lane closures and traffic stops lasting about 15 minutes at a time from midnight through 5 a.m. Blaum says it's all part of a $71 million project to rebuild 3.5 miles of I-476.
