PennDOT Reopens 2 Routes, Closes Another

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Two steps forward, one back for drivers  near the north end of the City Avenue bridge over the Schuylkill River.

Two ramps will reopen late today after months of detours. PennDOT's Gene Blaum says one connects northbound City Avenue with Ridge Avenue, and will now end in a light so you can go east or west.  There used-to-be a flyover for westbound-only.

"Motorists will also be regaining the reopening of the Ridge Avenue ramp to northbound Lincoln Drive and Kelly Drive which has been closed since October."

But you'll also lose something.

"The Ridge Avenue ramp that takes you directly on to southbound City Avenue," Blaum said.  "However the detour is very short. It's actually using a ramp that's right next to the ramp that's closing."

Blaum says this $20 million project is on schedule.
