Pa. Man Arrested In Theft From Boy's Casket

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- State police have arrested a western Pennsylvania man who allegedly stole a hand-held video game system and accessories—from the casket of a teen killed in a sport-utility vehicle crash on Christmas Day.

State police in Indiana, Pa. say they got an anonymous tip that enabled them to find and arrest 37-year-old Jody Lynn Bennett, of Mentcle, about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

He was jailed unable to post $15,000 bond after his arraignment on charges including theft, abuse of a corpse, and intentional desecration of a venerated object.

Police say Bennett grabbed the items from the casket of 17-year-old Bradley McCombs during a viewing Monday night at the Rairigh Funeral Home in Montgomery Township. That's about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Bennett's mother, Sharon, says her son has a drug problem and she apologized for his actions.
