Aerobic Fitness Drops With Marriage

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Perhaps you noticed the report from the American Journal of Epidemiology that came out last week. It is very interesting during this time of New Years resolutions which often revolve around health.

According to the article, when people get married they tend to let themselves go a bit—at least from the standpoint of exercise treadmill tests. The study looked at treadmill fitness tests and found that those who were recently divorced tended to get out there and exercise more often and were in better condition. Those in what appear to be stable marriages did not do as well in the aerobic exercise department.

The report did not look at stress and other issues related to health.
