Beach Boys To Perform At Rendell's End Of Term Party At The Electric Factory

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Governor Rendell will be feeling some 'Good Vibrations' at his end-of-term party. The Beach Boys will perform at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia on January second.

The invitation from Rendell's campaign committee, which is paying for the Beach Boys concert, is to supporters, contributors and friends. It features a beach chair, umbrella, beach ball, and a radio on a cooler. It recommends casual dress. One Rendell supporter says Beach Boys music has always been 'a Rendell staple.'

Rendell had a celebratory blowout for his first term as governor in 2003, which included Chuck Berry and Chubby Checker, and Mummers string bands. For his second term in 2007, Bon Jovi, the Dixie Hummingbirds and Frankie Avalon performed.

The bottom of the invitation reads 'due to fire marshal restrictions, first come, first served.' The standing-room-only capacity is about 2,500 to 3,000 people at the North 7th Street converted Electric Factory.
