Snoring And Your Risk Factors

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Metabolic syndrome is one of the big buzzwords in medicine these days. Put quite simply it is a number of high risk characteristics of people that help predict if they are at risk for heart disease and potentially serious problems. Obesity, lack of exercise and elevations in blood pressure all are part of this picture.

But according to a study at the University of Pittsburgh, there may be a surprising relationship between snoring and metabolic syndrome.

Researchers found that those who reported loud snoring had more than double the risk of developing metabolic syndrome than non-snoring participants. Now this may not be such a wild idea. If you think about it, people who are obese are more likely to have snoring issues than those who are normal weight.

If you look at it more closely once again we are saying lifestyle and fitness have a key role in good health.
