Man Falls To His Death At South Philly Shipyard
PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police were investigating the death of a 45-year-old man at a shipyard in south Philadelphia on Sunday night.
Fire personnel were called to the scene at Pier 84 along South Columbus Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. for a confined space rescue.
According to officials, a man had fallen 100-feet into a hole in the ship. Fire officials lowered a wire basket down into the hole to rescue the victim and rushed him to Thomas Jefferson Hospital in extremely critical condition.
The man was later pronounced dead.
