Thieves Strike Northeast Philly Family-Owned Store

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Fast-working burglars have victimized a family-owned business in Northeast Philadelphia taking, in the owners' words, "almost everything."

Surveillance tape seen exclusively on CBS 3 shows the two masked burglars breaking into the store using a crowbar after they cut wires, disabling the alarm system.

The tape shows the burglars stripping shelves of cigarettes, baby formula, and stealing a safe, laptop computers and the cash register, all in barely five minutes.

The two sisters who own the Stop and Shop Market at Ashton and Willits Roads say it's the second time they have been burglarized in the past year.

The owners say they have worked 17 hours a day, seven days a week to build their business over the past two years and the crime has made a huge impact.

Customers say they are angry that the owners, who they like and depend on, have been victimized.

Although the two thieves covered their faces, it's hoped someone will have information about them and will call Philadelphia police.
