South Jersey Couple Sought In East Coast Theft Spree

VOORHEES, NJ (CBS) -- A South Jersey couple that has been on the lam for a week and a half now -- suspected in a number of thefts along the way -- is in a lot of hot water.

Teague Caton, 20, is considered absent without leave from the US Navy after failing to return to Norfolk, Va. from a trip home to Medford, NJ last month.

He hooked up with his girlfriend, 23-year-old Jacqueline Negra, who has kidney problems, in Cherry Hill.  She's been reported as missing by her grandmother, with whom she lived.

Together, they are suspected in a few break-ins at homes throughout South Jersey, including one in Voorhees, where detective Dennis Ober says police have come close to catching them on a couple of occasions.

"They ran from the Edgewater Park police department," he said on Friday, "Voorhees, Cherry Hill, so they have been somewhat elusive."

It's thought the couple might be in Virginia, given recent activity on one victim's credit card.

Warrants for the pair have been issued -- Caton for resisting arrest and Negra for hindering apprehension of a wanted suspect. And  that doesn't include whatever trouble Caton is in with the Navy.

Voorhees police will take any tips on this case at 856-428-5400.
