Housing Authority Board Approves Interim Director

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Housing Authority Board has approved a contract to borrow an interim director from New York.

The Board agreed to pay the New York City Housing Authority up to $292,500 dollars in the next year for the services of its general manager Michael Kelly, while the Board finds a permanent replacement for fired director Carl Greene.

Board Chairman John Street called hiring Kelly a giant step forward for PHA, "He is very accustomed to handling complex authorities that are large, that have the kind of tax credit deals that we do and the kind of very aggressive acquisition and development program."

Street plans to introduce Kelly at a Friday news conference. He'll start December 12th.
