Guilty Plea Expected In Northern Liberties Murder

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The accused murderer of a young woman in Northern Liberties in the summer struck a deal with prosecutors on Thursday.

Donte Johnson, 18 (above right), agreed  to plead guilty to the first-degree murder of 20-year-old Sabina O'Donnell (above left) as part of a plea deal and will be sentenced to life in prison, taking a possible death penalty out of the equation.

Johnson is charged with raping and murdering the victim outside her apartment as she arrived home on her bike on June 2. Authorities say the evidence against Johnson includes video of him in the area at the time of the crime, DNA, and a confession. He said he targeted her because he liked her bike.

Johnson, who sobbed in court during an earlier court appearance, finished his confession with, "I shouldn't have did it. I shouldn't have put my hands on her. All over a bike."

The hearing is scheduled for December 10th.
