Comcast Puts On-Demand TV On iPads

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Cable TV is coming soon to your iPad.  Comcast is now offering an app for that.

It used to be that television would be the one thing a family could share. But now it's being made more personal. Comcast spokesman Jeff Alexander suggests it's a perfect match for viewers on the go.

What is it?  Basically, a program guide paired with a portable video player.

Right now just the guide is operational. In a couple of weeks, however, you'll be able to access on-demand video and more.

"It's going to reinvent the way Comcast customers interact with their televisions," says Alexander, "and it's going to  extend their ability to search, discover, watch, and share their favorite TV shows and movies whenever and wherever they want."

And it's free to Xfinity cable subscribers, although it is restricted to Apple products.

You can download the app yourself by going to xfinity.com.
