It's The Sixth Annual U.S. Mr. Gay Pageant

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A pageant in Philadelphia, this weekend, will determine the next person who holds the title of U.S. Mr. Gay.

Bruce Yelk is the producer of this year's U.S. Mr. Gay. It is the sixth annual contest, but it's the first on the east coast. He says it will have a swim suit contest, formal wear contest but also a serious side, "I mean we can't get married, we can't serve in the military, I mean there's real issues in this community."

TyRon Jackson is a contestant from Orange County, California and he wants to make sure people understand that this is not just about looks, "Don't get me wrong, we're all good looking guys but this is much more than a beauty contest."

Jackson highlights the issues, "It's an opportunity for us to really step up and be the face of gay America, to step up and really tackle these things that are happening whether it's teen bullying, don't ask don't tell, Prop 8, it's amazing to see us work together and make a change in our world."
