John Travolta Still High on Qantas Airways

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Australia's famed Qantas Airways had a close-call to its 90-year safety record last week when one of its A380 double-decker airbuses made a dramatic emergency landing at the Singapore airport, forcing its more than 400 passengers to make a quick but successful emergency departure from a plane that was trailing smoke.

QANTAS has had a high-profile endorsement from Hollywood star, John Travolta, a qualified pilot in his own right, who owns a one-time QANTAS jet.

Travolta recently took part in QANTAS' 90th anniversary celebration:

"The QANTAS brand around the world is very strong and so strong that you know, although I'm friends with Oprah, she dedicated the whole show to the airline and I was a good part of that, being the ambassador, but that's the quality of the brand.  It's that strong!"

QANTAS says it's never had a fatal crash in its 90-year history although the recent episode at the Singapore airport was a 'close call'.
