Wilmington Police Investigate Shooting, Victim Suffers 8 Gunshot Wounds

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- Police in Delaware are searching for suspects in a shooting that left a Wilmington man in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

Early Sunday morning, Wilmington Police on patrol in the area of 26th and Jessup Street heard numerous gun shots. Initial searches of the surrounding area for a victim or suspects returned no results.

About 30 minutes after the shooting, a male gunshot victim arrived at the Wilmington Hospital and police were notified of his condition.

The victim, who suffered eight separate wounds, notified police that he was in the area of 24th and Carter Streets but could not provide further details. He was transported to Christiana Hospital listed in serious but stable condition.

Wilmington Police continue to investigate this incident.
