Walkers Raise Millions For Breast Cancer Research

Philadelphia (CBS) - Walkers will wrap up their final 20 mile portion of the 6th Annual Susan G. Komen 3-day for a cure event.

Participants will have walked a total of 60 miles through out Philadelphia, when they finish at the Naval Yard Sunday afternoon.

On the third and final day, about 2,200 survivors and supporters gathered at the Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park at around 8a.m.

Organizers announced that 3-Day for the Cure participants raised more than $5.7 million for innovative breast cancer research and community-based breast health and education programs.

Walkers will be finishing the last 20 miles of the 60-mile walk today celebrating with a closing ceremony beginning at 5:00p.m. to conclude the weekend-long event. The majority of walkers cross the finish line between 3:30p.m.and 4:30p.m.
