Widener DB Laquan Robinson Looking Forward To Lycoming Game

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- In local college football, Widener is on the road visiting Lycoming tomorrow in a Division III matchup.

Widener's "Pride" is now 3-2, thanks in part to the great work they've gotten out of Laquan Robinson (#2 in photo). The freshman defensive back and kick returner, who hails from Chester, Pa., has done a little bit of everything  so far this season.

He talks about the most challenging aspect of transitioning to the college game:

"Mentally. You have to be mentally prepared for the college level because if you don't come out with your head straight and your mind everywhere, you won't be ready."

Robinson has definitely been ready.  He leads Widener with two interceptions, and in a win over FDU-Florham two weeks ago he returned two punts for touchdowns:

"On the first one I couldn't believe how wide open I had that sideline. On the second one I didn't think I was going to get through that crowd of people, but I did, and I was just so excited to actually score at the college level two times in one game."

Robinson is also averaging more than 16 yards per kickoff return this season.
