'Night Market' To Highlight Phila. Food Scene

A first of its kind bazaar will highlight Philadelphia's street food scene.

It's the city's first night market, along East Passyunk Avenue around Tasker, highlighting the city's burgeoning street food and ethnic restaurants.

April White, with the Food Trust, said the idea behind the night market is to get people really excited about the food they're eating.

"It's lots of tents with our great ethnic restaurants serving from there, and a lot of the food trucks that you see around the city, including some of the newer trucks that can be very elaborate.  We'll have some live bands, we'll have some places to sit.  It'll just be a festive environment."

It begins at 6 p.m., on Thursday.

There'll be five other night markets throughout the city over the next 18 months.
