Mural Prep Begins At Philadelphia International Airport

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's been said it's always darkest before the dawn, and just that sort of thing is about to happen to the parking garages at Philadelphia International Airport.

The Parking Authority Board approved nearly a quarter of a million dollars to powerwash, seal, and prime a series of enormous walls on its airport garages.

Parking Authority spokeswoman Linda Miller:

"At one time, the garages may appear to be just black.  This is in preparation for a mural of dancers that is going to be on the walls of our garages facing I-95."

The PPA board was told to expect three-to-four months of black walls, the result of having to do the prep work before winter, and the mural not until it warms up in the spring.

There was some worry the public might wonder, "has the airport gone goth?"  It's just a phase.
