Sneak Peek at Sugarhouse Prior to Grand Opening

Sugarhouse executives conducted a walk-through of the just about completed casino which is scheduled to open a week from today.

KYW's Michelle Durham went along for a tour of the brand new facility.

General manager Wendy Hamilton took members of the press through the building -- it's still very much a construction zone -- with final touches taking place both outside and inside. Upon entering the floor, the sheer size of it takes you by surprise:

"The gaming floor is 45,000 square feet -- 1,600 slots and 40 table games."

And several restaurants and lounges to eat and relax:

"This is Lucky Red, just one of our entertainment venues. This is where people can sit have a drink meet friends. It has video poker in the bar."

Hamilton addressed the issue of security, especially in terms of protecting minors left behind in a car , which has been an issue for other casinos (see related stories):

"We have signage in our lots. We also have a bike team who will be constantly patrolling the lots. One of the things they'll do is look into cars and make sure no children or pets have been left behind."

That team will be aided by over 500 security cameras inside and outside the casino.
