Ninety-year-old Bill Myers recently completed his 10,000th call as a volunteer for the Springfield Ambulance Corps in Delaware County, Pa.

Myers was a combat medic in the Philippines during World War II, and upon his retirement from Boeing in 1986 he joined the ambulance corps:

“Springfield Ambulance Corps sent out the solicitation that they needed volunteers and I said, well, I can do this.”

Myers works long days that often start at 6am:

“Somebody has to do it, so that somebody might as well be me (laughs).”

And Myers plans to keep going:

“You feel good when you’re in bed at night because you helped somebody.”
