A Fall Festival for the Whole Family
by KYW's Phran Novelli --
Here's something to do this Saturday that's fun and free: check out the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Fall Garden Festival; it's open to the public and happening rain or shine Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm at the Philadelphia Navy Yard – even the parking is free.
There'll be all kinds of plants to see, a greensgrow farmer's market, gardening lectures, plus experts on hand to answer your questions. Kids will enjoy the butterfly garden, animals from the Philadelphia Zoo, pumpkin painting, an eco-obstacle course, and watching the world's fastest pumpkin carver. Plus there will be veggie races – I don't even know what that is, but I want my carrot to win.
And if you join PHS that day, you can save money on your membership, get free tickets to the flower show next spring, and get a free plant to take home that day.
