Delco Couple Hopes to Dance Into Paula Abdul's Heart

A Delaware County couple is getting ready to audition for a new dance show featuring former American Idol judge Paula Abdul.

KYW's Pat Loeb reports the two have been dancing together for a long time -- a really long time.

Al and Evelyn Jacobs have been together since before Elvis recorded "All Shook Up," though Al admits he didn't always like dancing:

"I did resist for many years, but when I finally was dragged out to a folk dance I got to like it.  It led to this, and here we are..."

Where Al and Evelyn are is on the stage of the Maris Grove retirement community in Glen Mills, rehearsing for an audition with Abdul.

It all started when Evelyn choreographed a dance for a show at the community center featuring the Maris Grovettes:

"And they did so beautifully that I thought it's a shame to not have a record of it.  So I put it on YouTube."

One of Abdul's producers saw it and invited the Jacobs to audition this Sunday.

They've been rehearsing daily:

"I thought I was coming here to retire and make life a lot easier for me. However, with all of this dancing, it's back to hard work."
