KYW's Local Legends: Dr. Janet Lioy
Dr. Janet Lioy is a leading physician in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's neonatal intensive care unit, helping to get infants and newborns with severe medical issues the care they need, and helping parents and families cope:
"You're going to grieve about the loss of what you think was going to be, and now what is. So, yes, a lot of handholding, all the time."
Dr. Lioy also plays an important part in a number of community organizations -- particularly leading the effort to provide AEDs (automated extended defibrillators) at all Upper Makefield township baseball and community fields.
"I'm always involved in trying to help people to find the right answers for things and to get the right information."
