Teaching Young Kids How to Have Fun While Being Green

Our leaders of the future are learning about environmental responsibility in a fun way.

KYW's John McDevitt reports at the Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill a group of four-year-olds were making musical instruments like maracas out of empty juice and sports drinks bottles, filling them with dry beans then decorating them to their liking.

Nikki Williams of Cinnaminson knows all about recycling:

"You reuse it. You don't throw it in the trash."

Over the bridge in Philadelphia, Drexel University associate professor Pamela Geller's family has been involved in making toys out of recycled material like turning a milk jug into a helicopter:

"We hope that many families, if not all families would be able to recycle and reuse things and this gives them a way to start thinking about it at an age-appropriate level for kids under five like our boys."

Some of the toys are on display behind glass at Drexel's student center:

"And that we have the opportunity to show them it makes it even more special."
