Here's a Bright Idea -- Plant Bulbs

by KYW's Phran Novelli

You love them in the spring, you'll plant them in the fall, but now, while it's still summer is the best time to order bulbs so you can get exactly the ones you want. You can find bulbs in stores and garden centers, but catalogs and websites have more choices, and that's where you'll find some of the most unusual bulbs as well as many more choices of color, height, petal shape, and bloom time.

If you've never planted bulbs before, keep it simple. Bulbs look best when you plant a lot of the same color in one place. So, plan to plant them in a big patch for impact. Instead of scattering 50 tulips individually all over your front yard, plant just two patches of 25, all the same color.

And, remember, you can plant layers of bulbs in the same hole and have little bulbs like crocuses followed by larger, later bulbs like tulips and daffodils. But first, you have to order some bulbs.
