Pa. Woman Suing for Alleged Bed Bug Infestation

From planes in Ohio to theatres and hotels in New York City, bed bugs have received quite a bit of media attention recently. And now a Pottstown woman has filed a lawsuit against a Norristown store claiming they leased her furniture that was contaminated with the pests.

KYW's Brad Segall reports that the lawsuit claims Aaron's Incorporated on Markley Street was careless and negligent when they leased Robin Boyd several pieces of bedroom furniture for her apartment last August. Boyd says she took a nap after the delivery and awoke with bed bug bites on her body.

Her attorney is Barry Gultanoff:

"She asked Aaron's to pick up the furniture and void her lease and according to my client they refused to do that and as a result she continued to experience daily bed bugs which has devastated her life."

He says Boyd suffers from hair loss, multiple bites, anxiety, and depression and was forced to miss a lot of work. Gultanoff says Aaron's was aware there was a problem. Efforts to reach the store were unsuccessful.

Experts say bed bugs are a national problem and they're showing up in offices, movie theaters, stores, and other public spots.
