Actress Emma Thompson Meets with Kid Fans at Free Library

Award-winning actress, author, and screenwriter Emma Thompson stopped by the Free Library of Philadelphia this afternoon to talk about the new film and book based on her character, Nanny McPhee (right).

KYW's Karin Phillips reports from Logan Circle that Thompson answered questions from about 100 local kids from neighborhood camps and organizations about the new "Nanny McPhee" film, Nanny McPhee Returns, and Thompson's new book based on the film.

While most of the kids hadn't read the book, all of them saw the film and plied Thompson with some pretty technical questions involving CGI technology, magic sticks, and flying pigs.

Except for one question: why did she become an actor?

"I didn't want to be an actor when I was little.  My parents were actors so I thought perhaps I would do something else.  One time someone came to our school who was a hospital administrator, and I was quite keen on being one of those since she had a nice handbag."

Ten-year-old Bryiana is looking forward to the next film, which comes out August 20th.

"Because I want to see what happens next at her new house where she's going to be nannying kids."
