Convicted Cop Killer Continues Courtroom Boycott

The defense is presenting its case for a life sentence for convicted Philadelphia cop killer Eric Floyd, but he's still not in the courtroom.

KYW's Tony Hanson reports that Floyd (above) has had no apparent interest in being present for the proceeding that will determine whether he lives or dies.

The prosecution is seeking the death penalty for Floyd in the 2008 murder of police sergeant Stephen Liczbinski (see previous stories).

But Floyd, who punched out his attorney during jury selection (see related story), has generally declined to follow courtroom decorum or even be present for the trial or penalty phase.

And before his attorney began presenting his case for life imprisonment -- including testimony by a penologist who contends that Floyd would likely be a good inmate if sentenced to life -- Floyd was asked by the judge if he wanted to be present.

Floyd said no and was returned to his cell adjoining the courtroom, where he can watch the proceedings on closed circuit television if he is so inclined.
