Lidge Escapes Jam, Phils Win 4 in a Row

A 1 hour and 39 minute rain delay did the Phils good, as they come out in the 7th, down 3-2, score 2 runs, and hold on to beat the Rockies 4-3. Closer Brad Lidge escaped a bases loaded jam to record his 9th save of the season. Starter Ja Happ went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts in his 1st game back.

Trailing 3-2 after the lengthy rain delay, batting for the pitcher, Wilson Valdez led off the 7th inning with a ground rule double. Next batter, Jimmy Rollins hits an rbi single scoring Valdez, knotting the game at 3. On a fielding error, Rollins advances to 2nd, then steals 3rd. Rockies pitcher Rafael Betancourt would later throw a wild pitch to Jayson Werth, allowing Rollins to score the winning run.

Ben Francisco knocked in 2 runs in the 2nd, with his 3rd homerun of the season. Ryan Madson(W, 3-1) pitched the 7th, and got the win. The Phils have yet to lose on the homestand(3-0), and have won 4 in a row. Joe Blanton takes the mound Monday afternoon, as the Phils go for the 4 game sweep of the Rockies at Citizens Bank Park.
