Pay Special Attention to Pets During a Heat Wave

You may want to skip your dog's walk today due to the extreme heat. KYW's John McDevitt reports exercise could be hazardous to your dogs health in the hot weather according to Dr. Ken Drobatz with Ryan Veterinary Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania:

"Certainly if they want to swim and things like that it's fine as long animals are staying cool in regards to that but running in the heat at all or even some of these dogs like bull dogs with short fat faces over heat just on their regular walks and actually die of heat stroke."

Dr. Frobats recommends keep your pet in an air conditioned house if possible and provide plenty of fresh water.
