Abington Man Sentenced for Molesting Girl in PAL Program

by KYW's Brad Segall

A former volunteer for the Police Athletic League in Montgomery County is headed to jail for having inappropriate contact with a 15-year old girl in the program.
Albert Urban, 53, of Abington, Pa. was sentenced to 6-23 months in county prison for indecent assault and corruption of minors for an incident last June.  Urban was driving a 15-year-old girl home when he kissed her on the lips and neck.

He apologized in court for his actions and called them "very wrong and very inappropriate."  Montgomery County assistant district attorney Kate McGill:

"He took advantage of his position within the PAL organization, took advantage in his position as a counselor, and his position essentially as what should have been a role model."

McGill hopes the incident won't deter parents from having their kids participate in what she calls a "wonderful" organization.

The judge also ordered Urban to undergo a psychological evaluation.  He was also given two years' probation following his jail sentence.
