A survey conducted by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling indicates many people are watching their finances this summer and cutting back on the vacations. It's summertime, but for many people the living is not easy. According to a survey by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, many people are cutting back on their vacations this season:

"The times are tough and everybody's sort of watching their nickels and dimes."

"I'm watching my dollars but I'm trying to do local areas more rather than traveling to other places."

"I just pick local places or go to the beach."

"I'm not going on vacation this year."

Kuznits: "Is it because of the economy?"

"Exactly!"

"I didn't have money to do a lot else so I'm staying with my family here and just seeing the city."

Kuznits: "Did you drive or fly?"

"Took Amtrak. I used my Triple-A discount."

So what are some ways to enjoy yourself on the cheap this summer?

"I'd say have a picnic in the park because it's really about who you're with and not where you are!"
