Chester County Love Triangle Suspect Waives Extradition

by KYW's Brad Segall

A 22-year-old Delaware County man has waived extradition and will return to Chester County to face murder charges in what prosecutors are calling a love triangle murder.

Stephen Shappell was arrested Sunday night in Denver after being on the run for a couple of days (see previous story).  Prosecutors say Shappell conspired with Morgan Mengel to kill her husband, Kevin.  His body was found over the weekend, buried behind Marple Newtown High School.

Mengel and his wife owned a landscaping business and police say Shappell worked for them.  Police say Shappell and Morgan Mengel first tried to poison the victim and when that didn't work, Shappell beat him with a shovel.
