Athletic Training Conference Opens in Phila.

by KYW's Hadas Kuznits

Thousands of athletic trainers are in Philadelphia this week for a conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Wiedner University head athletic trainer AJ Duffy, co-host of this year's National Athletic Trainers Association convention in Philadelphia, says the seminars deal with everything athletes go through from head to toe:

"We have concussion, we have eye inujuries, we have ear, nose, and throat issues, we have cardiac issues, we have physicians that'll come and speak about internal injuries. We have athletic trainers that will speak on the best emergency care and how to prevent and save individuals in an emergency situation."

And he says there are also skin ailments caught in the locker room:

"The simplest thing is to just look at your skin. If it doesn't look right, then there's more than likely something that's going on and it's very simple -- keep it clean, keep it dry."

The convention runs through June 25th.
