Weekend Phillyfun Picks For Kids-- June 6-9, 2014

Calling all canines! Get your dog walks on at the free Nar Bark Dog Parade happening Friday, June 6th from 6-8 p.m. in downtown Narberth. The 7th annual NarBark Dog Parade will features prizes, music, pet portraits, ask the behavior experts, pet vendors with samples and more. Free.

The Philadelphia International Children's Film Festival kicks off Friday, June 6th and runs through Sunday, June 8th with a variety of animated, live action and experimental short and feature films from around the world. In addition to the films there will be special events including a special engagement of A Fault in Our Stars, free treats at the Whole Foods Market Pop-Up Concession Stand (Saturday and Sunday only), and DIY Animation Station. Tickets $10 and $5 for children.

The conference provides a national forum for learning with opportunities for educating male parents and mentors on areas including parenting, financial/asset building, health and wellness, education and more. Take the whole family out to experience the stand that started it all on Saturday, June 7th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Penn Wynne Elementary School in Wynnewood PA. Celebrate the life and legacy of the little lemonade girl, Alex Scott, who made a difference with her commitment to raise money for pediatric cancer research to help doctors find a cure for children who had cancer. This event will include food, games, crafts, face-painting, music, raffles, and of course lemonade!! Plus there will be a butterfly release to commemorate and celebrate the lives of all children fighting cancer and those who have lost their lives to the disease. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Youth Spokesperson, Bailee Madison will also be at the stand to greet fans and help the cause!

This free African American street festival happening Sunday, June 8th from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. celebrates the coming of another year for African Americans and is highlighted procession from 23rd and South Street to the Schuylkill River where an offering of fruit and flowers is made to Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of the river. In addition to the procession, families will enjoy 12 city blocks featuring an authentic African Marketplace with goods from African nations, entertainment, music and more. Free.
