Top Weekend Happy Hours In Philadelphia

Happy hour isn’t only for the weekdays or after work anymore, as weekend specials are springing up all over the place. Looking for half-off appetizers and $3 drafts? Check out these places for some great deals.

The Bards is a small Irish pub located in Rittenhouse Square. Its happy hour runs every day from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. (on Sundays, 8 p.m. until midnight). Enjoy half off on select food, $3 Yuengling and Coors Light drafts, $3 micro brew drafts, $5 house wine and cocktails and $4 imported drafts. The menu is full of authentic Irish fare, such as bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie and Guinness Irish stew. If you’re a student, bring your college ID to receive a 20-percent discount off of your food.

BarLy is a new sports bar in Chinatown. It has 60 beers on tap and a menu full of intercontinental bar food. Its happy hour is everyday from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and offers some great deals, including $5 wine and beer flights. It also has cheap prices on domestic and import bottles and $3 drafts, $4 martinis and $4.25 cocktails. Appetizers range from $1.25 (for skewers, steamers and the raw bar) to $3 (French bread pizza, sushi rolls) to $3.50 (for calamari, dumplings and more).

North Star Bar has one of the best happy hours in the Fairmount neighborhood. Everyday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., all beer is only $3, wings are 50 cents and Prince Edward Island Mussels are half off ($5). North Star Bar has 12 taps with local and national beer along with a strong selection of bottles. The food here is not your typical bar food, with great sandwiches, burgers and salads on the menu. Plus, this is also a fantastic music venue, stick around after happy hour and you might be able to see some great live and local music.

Every day of the week, enjoy $4 Absolut mixed drinks from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. at this Northern Liberties bar and live music venue. Tuesdays through Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 p.m. to midnight, Ortlieb’s also serves $3 and $4 drafts and tacos for only $1.50. During Friday’s happy hour, a special guest DJ spins vinyl. The full menu here is served everyday until midnight and features great burgers, salads and small snacks. The bar has 10 rotating drafts and a good selection of bottles. Ortlieb’s has a nice casual ambiance and the music performances range from jazz and indie to rock.

Seven days a week, this unique bar features half off all drafts from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and from 10 p.m. until 11 p.m. If you come during the week, it has daily food specials (Taco Tuesdays, Burger Wednesdays, Pierogie Thursdays) as well. Tattooed Mom has 12 taps available, many of them local, and a selection of great cocktails. The menu is made up of comfort bar food, including delicious sandwiches, tater tots and pierogies. For the non-meat eater, there are many vegan and veggie options available. This laid-back bar has interesting decor, with art and graffiti lining the walls. There is a lounge and pool table on the second floor.
