Every Thursday, BYO wine or beer to Sister Cities Park to pair with delish gourmet cheeses. Live music will also accompany the event, and the Logan Square Café will grill up barbecue food — just in case you’re in need of some heartier fare.

POPS! On Independence Mall

8 p.m., FREE

There will be patriotic tunes galore during the Philly POPS’s annual 4th of July performance on Independence Mall. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, and soloist Capathia Jenkins will accompany the orchestra.

Screenings Under the Stars


About 8:30 p.m., FREE

If the weather cooperates, head to Penn’s Landing for the first installation of “Screenings Under the Stars” of summer 2014. Tonight, sit back and relax with the classic film “The Goonies,” and don’t forget your picnic basket and a blanket to make the most of the experience.
