Top Scallops In Philadelphia

Scallops and other seafood are favorites for people in the warmer weather months, but should be consumed all year round. At least there is little reason not to enjoy them. Scallops served in restaurants are often sea scallops, not to be confused with bay scallops which are smaller and usually in pasta dishes. The simplicity of a scallop is part of its draw, and also in its execution. You don't want raw or overcooked-rubbery scallops. Here are the top five places to find deliciously cooked scallops in the Philadelphia area.

Bud & Marilyn's are open for Lunch and Dinner and is both a restaurant and bar. There are portions of the restaurant you can just walk in and get a table; otherwise you need a reservation for dining. They are happen to be a Farm to Table restaurant so menu options will change from time to time depending on what is in season. The Scallops here are cooked to perfection and are often paired with another fish such as squid or salmon, and the in season vegetable. Talula's Garden also brings to your table fresh cheeses as opposed to complementary bread.

The Oyster House is a popular place in general for all seafood lovers and has been open since 1976.  The Scallops can be served a few ways here, most popular is the seared with veggies. Oyster House isn't cheap so you may wish to consider for a fancy night out or come by for their happy hour. If you also love oysters the Oyster Happy Hour is from 5-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday nights from 9-11 p.m.  Dessert here is heavenly from cinnamon ice cream, coconut custard or chocolate peanut butter pie, you can't pick wrong.

Barclay Prime is a Zagat pick, so this is a fine dining restaurant for a nice evening out.  The Scallops here are oversized and cooked to perfection. You can order them as a bacon wrapped appetizer or as your main dish. If you are or have a carnivore lover with you, the steaks here are some of the best you can get in the city and everything here is cooked to perfection. Even the complimentary bread is homemade, flaky and comes with a sea salt butter. Plus they have caramel chocolate cake, or you can just get more scallops for dessert.
