Top Outdoor Yoga Classes In Philadelphia

Al fresco yoga is the in thing to do in the City of Brotherly love as of late, and there's nothing more zen than a little yoga outdoors. Yoga is the perfect combination of physical, mental and spiritual conditioning. The practice of yoga has been around since the fifth century and is said to have originated in India. In the past 10 years, yoga has become a common practice of westerners. Pop-up yoga studios can be found all over Philadelphia. Breathe in the fresh air and exhale while practicing sun salutations at any of these outdoor yoga events happening in Philadelphia.

The warmer months are a perfect time to visit Race Street Pier and free outdoor yoga classes just offer an excuse to keep going back every day. The free outdoor yoga classes take place from Monday through Sunday. Monday through Thursday classes are offered at 7 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Friday offers only one class at 7 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday offer classes at 9:30 a.m only. Don't forget to bring a mat.

Head on over to the other river, the Schuylkill River, for some outdoor yoga on the Schuylkill Banks of Philadelphia. Yoga classes take place every Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday at 25th and Locust Street. The classes start at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and take place at 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Bring a mat and pay what is affordable. All levels welcome.

Enjoy some free yoga at Dilworth Plaza which is located on the West side of City Hall every Wednesday. The yoga class takes place from noon to 1 p.m. Get into some traditional fitness classes and stop by the plaza on Tuesdays and Thursdays to get that heart rate going. The free yoga classes are instructed by Chelsea Gilday, a former dancer with the Pennsylvania ballet. Chelsea teaches Private Pilates Equipment Training, Group Pilates training and Cardio & Barre Sculpt Classes.

Every Thursday morning cleanses the spirit with rooftop yoga at Whole Foods on South Street. The vinyasa classes are taught by Kristen Cortez from The Yoga Garden studio. Kristen has been practicing yoga since 2008 and graduated from the Yoga Garden Teacher Training on 2014. Be there by 10 a.m for this free class. All levels are welcome. Bring a mat!

Chadds Ford's Penns Woods Winery is hosting wine tasting classes and 60-minute yoga classes Sunday mornings and Friday nights. This one will cost a little though. $35.00 for five wine tasting and snacks. It's a fun way to spend the evening with friends or a loved one. What an awesome idea for a first date or just something new to do with a long time companion.
